Keeping Scores during the Winter Months on the Golf Canada Network

Last Updated: 29 October 2020

The World Handicap System (WHS) permits British Columbia Golf to determine a period of time when scores made in specific areas of the province cannot be submitted for handicap purposes because course conditions are exceptionally poor.

Due to the different playing conditions occurring within the various geographical areas of the province, British Columbia Golf has invoked a mandatory inactive season for handicap purposes for those areas in the province where golf cannot be played year-round.Posting of all local scores played in British Columbia for handicap purposes is suspended during the period November 15 to February 28, for all members in areas where golf cannot be played year-round. This period is mandatory.

The areas where golf can be played year-round and will have their active season extended are: The Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley and Vancouver Island.

Procedure during the period November 15 to February 28

For the areas with an extended active season, as identified above, we will adjust the Course and Slope ratings so that they reflect the winter play conditions. Throughout the winter months, we will continue to monitor and adjust the Course Ratings as necessary.

Fall Fiasco @ Olympic View October 19th

Last Updated: 06 October 2020

Updated with date correction for the Registration Starting Wednesday October 7 at CPAC
We have managed to organize our last tournament of the year, the Fall Fiasco on Monday, October 19th 2020 at Olympic View Golf Course.
As many of the other courses would or could not accommodate our request OV was very willing to work with us and even allow us to have a sit down meal (of course at staggered times.)
So we will start teeing off at 11am and when you come in you will have one hour in the restaurant to give staff time to clean your area up for the next groups. As well they have explicitly asked that no mingling between the tables at all except to go to the washroom and straight back to your table. I think that's a fair trade off instead of a burger on the run. We are looking at offering two meal options and you will choose hopefully at registration as we need to have to them in to OV by Oct 13th:
  • 8oz Prime Rib dinner- served with garlic mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and au jus
  • Grilled chicken breast served with garlic mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, & Yorkshire pudding
Registration will be starting Wednesday October 7, 2020 at 9AM.

All those signing up as a foursome, have one member sign up and pay for the group to lessen the exposure to those at CPAC.
Check the website for daily closing times.
Title: CFBEGA Fall Fiasco

Format: 4 person modified scramble (So players can sign up in teams of 4) Open to CFBEGA members ONLY and will be checked.
Date: Monday October 19th 2020
Tournament Size: 72 players
Meal: As above
Tee times: Consecutive starting at 11am every ten minutes to maintain COVID protocol guidelines.
