Message from the President December 2020

Last Updated: 08 December 2020
These lady and gentlemen battled and conquered the elements over the two days at Olympic view and Arbutus Ridge golf courses, and they deserve nothing short of standing ovation for their victory.
As you know, COVID-19 has had a colossal impact throughout the world, and we were not immune to it. Regular CFBEGA events for 2020; Season Opener, Road Trip and Two Person Best Ball tournaments were cancelled. The Tournament Director – John Smith managed to salvage the season by organizing the last two tournaments (Championship and Fall Fiasco/Classic). In addition to John, I would like to thank Tim Christy, and Kim Ford for assisting the successful coordination and execution of those tournaments.
Although we anticipate continued COVID-19 impact to the 2021 CFBEGA Business Plan, we will continue to coordinate all regular events we normally hold namely; Season Opener in May, Road Trip in June, Two Person Best Ball in July, Championship in September, and Fall Fiasco/Classic tournaments in October.
The 2020 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held virtually via Zoom on 9 December 2020 at 1700. If you have not marked your calendar, please do so and send me your email so that I may send you a proper invitation. The AGM is a very important event in that the next year’s business plan and budget will be approved by the members. In addition, new executive committee members will be elected and those serving for one more year will be ratified. Therefore, I highly encourage those who are able to attend (easily this year as it is virtual) participate and shape the course of CFBEGA for 2021.
In 2020 AGM, two new executive committee members will be elected. One is Communication Director. The incumbent Communication Director – Rick Wilson has done a stellar job over the last year, and I would like to take this opportunity and thank him for his outstanding service to CFBEGA. Well done, Rick! I am the other departing executive. It was a pleasure and satisfying experience leading this Association for the last 5-6 years, and we have accomplished great success. Though we lost some golf courses due to closures, we have added more golf course to our affiliations, host more tournaments, and the Association is healthier financially. I wish the new committee members along with all executive members more success in their efforts to deliver service to our members.
In closing, I must say, it has been a joyful and incredible journey and if I do not see you at the AGM, farewell. It has been an absolute privilege and pleasure to serve as CFBEGA President, and I thank you for the opportunity to fulfill my commitment.
Once again, please mark 9 December 2020 on your calendars for the AGM. I look forward to seeing most of you virtually.
I wish you all the very best in 2021 and beyond, and enjoy golfing.
